Metgen wins Eurecan European Venture Contest

Metgen, a creator of novel enzymes for producing second generation bioethanol, has been honoured as the Cleantech company winner of Eurecan European Venture Contest 2010. The winner was chosen from 987 applications from 24 countries througout 2010.

MetGen enzymes are used for production of bioethanol from cellulosic materials. New enzymes make also existing pulp and paper processes faster and more efficient. Enzymes are also used for waste water treatment.

In the contest, 449 ICT, Cleantech and Healthcare companies were reviewed by over 120 European Experts online and face-to-face at meetings all over Europe.

Enzymes are proteins that catalyze chemical reactions. Enzymes are used in bioethanol production, because they enable biofuel production from industrial waste instead of using corn or other eatable plants as raw material.
